I’ve sat through all kinds of educational classes concerning domestic violence and how to deal with the issue. I’ve heard statistics and heart breaking stories like the boyfriend who cut up his girlfriend with samurai sword instead of paying the rent and the husband that savagely attacked his wife and his in-laws after his wife took the children from their home. Never mind all the anecdotal stories I’ve heard over the years sitting on bar stools, and quite confessions from female friends. I don’t understand why it happens and I will never understand why people stay, but while the experts will debate the right way to handle this issue there is a much similar solution. When you hit back people will stop hitting you, and than you will have a chance to get away.

The best and brightest have been trying out how to figure out human relationships since Adam and Eve, and the one fact they’ve established is nobody knows anything when it comes down to it. Most experts can only suggest the best way of going about things, and even than it is only a guideline. Most relationships end up in failure and that is actually a good thing, because they weren’t the one for you, so until you find the person you want to spend the rest of your life with dating will be involved, and I don’t need to tell you that there will be more losers than winners, but some can be dangerous, so trust your instincts and be prepared to deal with the nightmare date. While there is a lot of good advice out there few people talk about protecting yourself physically as well as mentally.

71 Year Old Granny Kicks Attacker’s Butt
NOOSAVILLE, Australia (AP) - Dawn Fraser, who won swimming gold medals at three Olympics, fought off and helped capture a man who tried to rob her home north of Brisbane.
The 71-year-old Fraser said Monday the man grabbed her but she fought back.
"This guy came out of the gate and grabbed me and I grabbed him by the ear and I kicked him in the groin," she told several Australian television stations.
"So he had to let me go. He threatened my life and I got really annoyed about that and just grabbed him by the ear and the hair."
She said a male friend made the man lie on his stomach until police arrived on Sunday.
Fraser won eight Olympic medals, including four golds, and held the 100-meter freestyle world record from 1956 to 1972. She won the 100 free at the 1956, 1960 and 1964 Olympics.

Kardasian Self Defense?
Real self defense training can help keep a person safe, and help them survive a violent encounter, but things aren’t always that clean cut. The fact is if you’re in a bad situation your training won’t be an instant fix. Will it help sure, but it isn’t a guarantee and no instructor can make that claim. In the end it is up to you and your will to survive, because sometimes you aren’t the one who is supposed to win the fight. The good guys don’t always win, but if you want to you need to train and than fight like hell.
Not long ago on Keeping Up with the Kardasians where the women went to receive self defense training. The instructor showed them a number of practical solid techniques and the women all enjoyed the training and left the studio laughing and confident that they could protect themselves against any threat. Problem was when they went home and asked their athletic father to pretend to attack them, but when they fought back they found their techniques were useless. Now you could say they only trained for a few hours or that the techniques simply didn’t work, but the fact is that they didn’t play to win.

Sport martial arts are a lot of fun and matches can be thrilling and competitive. They teach us a lot about character and discipline, but they don’t necessarily teach you how to fight. While they give you a good idea of what it is like to grapple with another person or strike an opponent they don’t teach you about real self defense. In a real life situation where you would use self defense things are much bloodier and nastiest, and that is because it has to be that way. When life and death is on the line there is no such thing as “fighting dirty.” |
