Customer Service and Stupid Martial Arts Questions

I wear many hats here at the Self Defense Company and one of them has me dealing with customer service issues, and while I honestly enjoy introducing someone to our system I also have to deal with a lot of annoying people who have no idea what they’re talking about.  Most issues are minor and can easily be solved, but other people just call to complain and don’t want to buy the product much less train.  We don’t have any use for people who aren’t interested in committing and often times we find their excuses laughable.  Now one pointless criticism is we don’t teach weapons training right at the beginning, and instead “force” people to buy all the other modules first.  Well, nobody is holding a gun to your head, but there is some reasoning behind our approach, and nobody is stopping you from using your tools with our training.

When you buy the Self Defense Training System you aren’t buy a collection of martial arts demonstrations, but rather you’re purchasing a training course which will teach you effective self defense.  You work step by step to improve your training and techniques, and while you’ll learn things you can use right away it will still take time.  You need a good foundation before you can build your structure, and unlike most martial arts it won’t take years of your time, and thousands of dollars.

Each module has a focus, but it builds on the one before as you develop a skill set that will help you in any self defense situation.  We all learned in school there was a reason we had to learn things in order, because you can’t take advanced algebra before you take algebra one, because you don’t have the tools to succeed.  You’ll get there, but you have to start at the beginning, but the difference is with our training system you’ll have some of the tools right away.

Like with any hand to hand combat training weapons come later, because you have to learn the fundamentals first, but you can still use weapons if they’re handy.  While all our early training modules feature the edge of hand attack you can easily do all the same attacks with a knife.  The only difference is that you will have to drive back an attacker before you pull it, but we can show you how to make some space so they have no chance to take your blade way from you.  Also if you regularly carry a firearm it’s only useful for you if you can bring it to bear, so learn how to not to get ambushed, and learn how to do more than pull a trigger.

Any of the weapons you have around whether it’s a cheap samurai sword, baseball bat or even a chain can easy be added to our training techniques.  When you include weapons is entirely up to you, but you should wait until you have a handle on the fundamentals first.  A good weapon should be part of you, but that only comes with training, and we’ll show you how to wield them better.  I martial arts weapons training takes years, but when you train with us you’ll learn how to use your blade effectively in no time.  Our approach is simple and our training isn’t difficult, so what is your excuse?  We can’t make it any easier or more affordable, so start training and make that sword on your wall a real weapon.
